Throughout the years I have come to realise that there are two main types of people: the ones who always give and compromise their comfort for others to be happy, and the ones who always do what’s best and more convenient for them.
But who is happier and who is doing it right? Is it okay to always put others first even if it compromises part of your own happiness? Or should you just think of yourself in order to be happy?
Not sure what’s the correct answer. Maybe neither… Maybe the best is the middle. Care for others and also care for yourself!
But why is it that some people are so selfish? What makes them think that they don’t need to be there for the hard part and that the easy and fun times are all they care about? Maybe they struggled in life and nobody helped them… Maybe they were not given the love and care they needed… You would think though, you wouldn’t want somebody else to go through the same hardness you have been through. Just because nobody helped you it doesn’t mean that you should not help anybody else…
And what is help? Some people might think that they have to give money or sacrifice all their free time. But help it’s not just that, is it? It’s asking the questions that have unpleasant answers. Understand. Show some interest. Empathise. Give some of your free time, not all, if need to, productively. Not just show up for the sake of it. Or to get your happy moment not really caring about what others might be going through.
The truth is, nobody needs to sacrifice their wellbeing and life for someone else. All you need to do is care a bit. And if we all care a bit then we create a world where everyone is cared for. Nobody is alone, helpless, drained, ignored. That’s all is needed: care and love!
I cannot forgive those who don’t care… and I cannot care for those who are doing the best for themselves… They clearly do not need to be cared for… Or do they?
Goodnight and remember that despite all the selfishness in the world you can still make it! Life knows where to give and where to take… Have faith! Have trust!
